MA FEST is more than just a music festival; it marks the dawn of a new arts and cultural institution in Columbus, Georgia. Our mission is to rekindle the vibrancy of the Liberty District, once a bustling hub of activity, by transforming it into a beacon of hope and cultural liveliness. Through this initiative, we aim to leverage the power of the arts to foster individual growth, community development, and economic revitalization. MaFest May 2025, honoring Ma Rainey, the Mother of the Blues,Mama's who Play, and Women in Music will take place on Mother's Day weekend in the Historic Liberty District. This district, once a thriving community for African Americans in Columbus, Georgia, is home to an old mill river town that has grown to become the second largest city in Georgia. The festival will feature multiple genres of music and two days of arts, forums, and BLACK BOTTOM experiences showcasing talent from around the world, including some of the biggest stars in the industry. The Liberty District has a rich cultural history, and MaFest is a celebration of that history and the music that has emerged from it. Ma Rainey, known as the Mother of the Blues, was a pioneer in the genre and inspired generations of musicians. The festival aims to continue her legacy by bringing together talented artists from diverse backgrounds and showcasing the best in blues, jazz, soul, hip hop, and more. In addition to the music, MaFest will include forums and discussions on topics relevant to the African American community, as well as art exhibits, food vendors, and other activities that celebrate the culture of the Liberty District. Whether you're a music lover, history buff, or simply looking for a fun and engaging weekend, MaFest May 2025 is an event not to be missed!
